WARDOGS Towers & Tower Codes — Full Guide

WARDOGS towers explained: capture steps, the 4-digit tower codes, what the drill does, Hot Zone Magnet activation and the fuel mechanic that decides late games.

Last updated

Towers are WARDOGS's signature objective. They stand fixed inside the Control Zone, they reward capture with a digit of a 4-digit code, and completing that code lets one faction drag the scoring Hot Zone onto their own position. This guide merges the two most detailed sources — MetaForge's towers guide and the Steam community guide "Simple explanation on towers and drills" — plus PCGamesN's capture overview, so every mechanic here has at least two independent descriptions.

What towers actually do

A tower is a foundation for a FOB with natural high ground, a vantage point, and — the real prize — a code number revealed on capture. Every match spawns a varying configuration of towers: Overgear's FAQ counts three to five per match, while the Steam guide author remembers three to four and admits uncertainty on the exact number. Treat the precise count as per-match variation, visible on your map at any time along with who controls each tower and its capture cooldown.

How to capture a tower

Per MetaForge's step-by-step:

  1. Check the tower is not on cooldown — hover its map icon or look at the console inside.
  2. Fight your way up and clear enemies from the structure.
  3. Head one floor above the entry point into the operations room.
  4. Interact with the tower console to capture.

The 4-digit tower code and the drill

Every capture reveals one number of an overall 4-digit code, and the console shows the position of that digit within the code. Once your faction holds all the towers (or gambles on guesses), you punch the digits into the number pad next to the console to activate the power play that MetaForge calls the Hot Zone Magnet. The Steam guide describes the same mechanic mechanically: the tower's drill activates and starts pulling the Hot Zone toward that tower — players inside score double, so holding the magnetized zone is usually how a match is won.

The fuel rule that decides late games

The Steam guide adds the detail that decides most endgames: the drill only runs while a FOB at that tower holds fuel supplies. If the FOB is destroyed or the fuel runs out, the Hot Zone stops moving and drifts back. So the real tower strategy is sequence, not capture: take the tower, build and fuel the FOB, then enter the code.

Community-disputed balance

Drills divide opinion — Reddit threads argue they are "the worst mechanic in the game" while mortar players love the siege they create. Balance is still moving in Early Access; expect adjustments.

Common questions

  • Are tower codes redeemable promo codes? No — "tower codes" are the in-game 4-digit objective code. WARDOGS has no redeemable codes at all.
  • Do you have to capture towers to win? No. MetaForge is explicit that towers are not mandatory; skipping them just surrenders the Hot Zone Magnet to whoever does.
  • Where should the FOB go? The community FOB guide says not always at the tower — but for drill play, tower-adjacent is the whole point. See the FOB building guide.
